ELDERLY CARE PROGRAM

Parallel to the increasing elderly population, there is an increase in the number of applications to nursing home elderly care and rehabilitation centers that provide services for the elderly over 60. As a result, the quality of healthcare and care services offered to the elderly population is important for the whole world. The need for intermediate staff who can provide medical and social care services has emerged in order to contribute to the reduction of physical, mental and social disabilities of elderly individuals that occur with aging. For this reason, the students who will benefit from the program integrate and assimilate the necessary knowledge, skills and values ​​in elderly care service; The main objective of the program is to ensure that they become a competent elderly care technician who implements and improves the elderly care service in public, private and non-governmental organizations. Elderly care program includes two-year associate degree education.

The educational basis of the elderly care program; The ability to know the basic characteristics and needs of the elderly and to meet the needs of the elderly in this direction, as well as the ability to approach the elderly in a holistic way.

 

Employment Areas of Graduates: Graduates of the program receive the title of "Elderly Care Technician". Graduates; Units related to the fields of the Ministry of Family and Social Policies where elderly care services are carried out, municipalities, hospitals, nursing homes, elderly nursing homes, practices for the elderly in health units, palliative care units, home care services, arranging the elderly's home, protected residences can work under the supervision of experts.

 

Working Environment and Conditions: Working environments are active. There may be intense stress and physical fatigue during the task processes, as night and / or daytime shifts may occur. They must always be careful. While working, they are in contact with the relatives of the elderly, healthcare personnel, colleagues and, when necessary, with different institutions.
