Medical Imaging Techniques
Correct diagnosis and treatment of diseases is one of the main goals of health sciences. Early diagnosis and treatment of diseases are extremely important for the society to be composed of healthy individuals. Medical imaging methods provide very valuable data to physicians in this early diagnosis and treatment process. With the discovery of X-rays by the German physicist Röntgen, the door to medical imaging methods was opened, and new applications were revealed in the field with the research and development activities carried out in the last thirty years.
It is possible for medical imaging methods to reach their targets efficiently with the presence of a well-trained team. This team consists of physicians who are experts in radiology, nuclear medicine or radiotherapy and medical imaging technicians or technicians at the core.
With the opening of the program; All the radiodiagnostic modalities used by the physician in the diagnosis and treatment of the disease (conventional and digital radiology, fluoroscopy, digital subtraction angiography, computed tomography, magnetic resonance imaging), as well as nuclear medicine (spect, pet, petct) and radiotherapy (simulator, linear accelerator, etc.) Qualified technical personnel who can use information and communication skills in the direction of education, have the ability to synthesize knowledge, use eye and hand coordination comfortably, and who can coordinate with other health personnel, will be able to train qualified technical staff to apply the developing technology in the field.
Working places
Graduates of the Department of Medical Imaging Techniques can work as a technician in the Radiology, Nuclear Medicine and Radiotherapy departments of state, university, private hospitals and private medical centers and private imaging centers.
A medical imaging technician; Medical imaging devices, Magnetic Resonance, Computed Tomography, X-ray, Angiography, Scintigraphy, Positron Emission Tomography, Bone Densitometry obtains two or three dimensional images of the parts of the human body that physicians deem necessary.
