Pathology Laboratory Program

The aim of the program; It is to train pathology laboratory technicians who are able to carry out all technical services in pathology laboratories, to prepare tissues and body fluids for microscopic examination and to apply the developing technology, to work in the establishment of new techniques, to solve problems, to use eye and hand coordination. It is a program established within the vocational school with the aim of training qualified technical staff. It is obvious that in pathology laboratories working on the principle of correct preparation and accurate diagnosis, it is important to train personnel who are capable of increasing the number of materials and many newly developed techniques. It is being understood more and more day by day that the need for equipped technical personnel is increasing rapidly. This program trains pathology laboratory technicians who have a level to meet the need for well-equipped technical personnel. Those who want to enter the pathology laboratory program must be people who are interested in chemistry and biology and who are successful, careful, responsible and enjoy working in closed places. Pathology laboratory technician performs the necessary processes in pathology laboratories until the preparation of human and animal tissues and fluids for microscopic examination, and uses the technology required for this. The graduates of the pathology laboratory program are given the title of "Health Technician".

Pathology Laboratory Techniques associate degree education is given as full time for 2 years. The language of education is Turkish.

The curriculum of the pathology laboratory techniques program has been created with lessons that contain information that can be used at all levels of working life. General histotechnology I, basic concepts in pathology, basic microbiology, general histotechnology II, special cytotechnology, special histochemistry techniques, molecular pathology techniques, immunohistochemistry, clinical biochemistry are the main courses of the program. In addition to these courses, our students are given health quality and accreditation, medical terminology courses.

Graduates of the program can work in pathology laboratories of universities, state and private hospitals, private pathology laboratories, Forensic Medicine Institution's pathology laboratories, Faculty of Medicine histology laboratories, and molecular pathology laboratories. Pathology is a newly developing science. Today, pathological diagnosis has an important place in the diagnosis of diseases. In our country, they give more space to the preferences of student candidates who want to specialize in medicine in the field of pathology. The need for technicians increases in proportion to the number of trained specialists. Those who have successfully completed the pathology laboratory techniques program can make vertical transfer to biology, nursing, nursing health services undergraduate programs if they are successful in the Vertical Transfer Exam conducted by OSYM.
